Dragon Ball Super Episode 8 Plot Summary
On the last episode of Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta had undergone a tremendous increase in power after becoming enraged at Beerus slapping Bulma. He had sworn that he would not let Beerus get away with what he had just done.
Dragon Ball Super Episode 8 begins with Vegeta charging at Beerus and unleashing an all-out assault in his enraged, powered-up Super Saiyan form. Unfortunately, even with the massive power boost, Beerus is effortlessly catching Vegeta’s punches. Eventually, Beerus evades a punch and uses Vegeta’s own force to spin him in a circle. However, to Beerus’ surprise, Vegeta puts his fists together and smashes him across the face, sending him flying high above the cruise ship. Beerus is clearly surprised, and infuriated at this turn of events.
Before Beerus even has a chance to react, Vegeta appears above him and lifts his fists above his head and strikes another blow against Beerus. This powerful strike sends Beerus spiraling towards the ocean, but he is able to stop himself just above the water. Vegeta is already in pursuit to continue his attack. Now Beerus and Vegeta continue their battle on the ocean’s floor, with the water having parted around them. Beerus seems to have the upper hand, until Vegeta appears behind him and lands a powerful uppercut to Beerus’ midsection. Beerus is unfazed, but exits the sea bed.
Now Vegeta and Beerus are fighting above the cruise ship so quickly that we’re unable to observe their movements. Vegeta begins a rapid fire assault of energy blasts, which creates a massive plume of smoke and obscures Beerus. When the smoke parts, Beerus is calmly levitating. The energy blasts left not so much as a scratch on him. Beerus, clearly a little surprised, contemplates if this is the Super Saiyan God power he had dreamed of. However, he determines that despite the surprise, Vegeta is still too weak to be considered a formidable enemy to a God of Destruction. Vegeta’s battle intensity diminishes, and he is afraid again. Beerus does point out that it’s been a while since he has used 10% of his true strength. However, he also mentions that he had more fun with Goku.
Beerus returns to the subject of destroying Earth. He lifts his finger in the air, as he would to create an energy bomb, but then has second thoughts. He thinks it may be a waste to destroy the planet, citing the tasty food as an incentive to reconsider his plan. He decides to give the humans another chance. Beerus tells the Z Fighters that if Oolong can beat him at Rock-Paper-Scissors, he will spare the Earth and go home.
Oolong approaches Beerus for the most important game of rock-paper-scissors in the history of the Earth. Oolong and Beerus both throw scissors – the first round is a tie. They agree to a second round – the same thing happens. In the third round, after some suspense, Beerus throws rock, defeating Oolong who throws scissors a third time.
In accordance with the promise Beerus has made, he begins to rise up above the cruise ship once again as he prepares to destroy the Earth. Beerus creates a large purple orb of God Ki, and lifts it high above his head. The Z Fighters look on as certain destruction approaches. Just as Beerus is about to launch the doomsday orb, Goku appears.
Goku pleads with Beerus not to destroy the Earth, but Beerus says he has already made up his mind. Goku tells Beerus that if he can be granted just a little bit of time, he may be able to locate the Super Saiyan God. Goku’s offer piques Beerus’ interest, and so he postpones the destruction of the Earth once again.
Dragon Ball Super Episode 8 ends with Goku coordinating a plan to use the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron for help.
