Dragon Ball Super Episode 4 Plot Summary
On the last episode of Dragon Ball Super, Beerus and Whis had just departed for King Kai’s planet to investigate if Goku could be the fabled Super Saiyan God Beerus had dreamed about. Dragon Ball Super Episode 4 begins with Beerus expressing disappointment in the meal selection Whis had prepared for the trip. We start to get a sense the Beerus and Goku may already have a common love – food.
Back on King Kai’s planet, King Kai can feel Beerus getting closer and grows nervous. This isn’t helped by the fact that, despite remembering he’s supposed to be at Bulma’s birthday party, Goku is still on the Kai’s planet. This presents an issue since he’s trying to avoid an encounter between Goku and Beerus. Little does King Kai know that Beerus is coming to his planet with the explicit intention of meeting Goku.
On Earth, both Bulma and Chichi are irritated by the absence of Vegeta and Goku, and Goten and Trunks are trying to sneak a peak at the Bingo prizes (which include a car, and airplane and a castle). After some finagling, Goten and Trunks reveal the grand prize of her birthday party: a wish granted by the Dragon Balls.
Revealing the Dragon Balls attracts the attention of an old villain that is stranded on a nearby island: Emperor Pilaf and his gang, Mai and Shu. They’re stranded on the island because their boat engine broke, but the prospect of being able to make a wish on the Dragon Balls motivates them to get in the stranded boat and row their way to the Cruise Ship where Bulma’s birthday party is being hosted, in hopes of being able to make a wish.
When Pilaf, Mai, and Shu arrive at the ship, they have some trouble getting up the side and onboard. Goten and Trunks meet them with a ladder to help them up. Trunks and Goten offer the trio food – at first they reject the offer but ultimately their hunger gets the best of them.
Back at Capsule Corp., Vegeta is training in 150x gravity, which he expresses has become too easy for him. Just then, his training is interrupted when an assistant tells him Bulma is on the phone. Bulma angrily commands Vegeta to get to the party.
We then see Goku continuing his training on King Kai’s planet. He still has not departed for the party, and Beerus and Whis are still on their way. King Kai finally explains the gravity of the situation, and tells Goku about Beerus. King Kai explains that Beerus is extremely fickle and easy to annoy, and that he is quick to destroy planets over minor annoyances. Just then, Beerus and Whis arrive.
