Dragon Ball Super Episode 27 Summary
The last episode of Dragon Ball Super concluded with Frieza standing above an incapacitated Goku, preparing to kill him, when he is suddenly interrupted by Vegeta who is ready to fight.
Dragon Ball Super Episode 27 begins with Vegeta having just fired an energy blast at Frieza. Vegeta tells Frieza he won’t let him kill Goku. “He’s annoying, but I need him to become stronger”, Vegeta tells Frieza. Vegeta also chastises Goku for letting his guard down, particularly since Whis has warned him about this weakness many times before.
Vegeta commands Krillin to give Goku a Senzu Bean. Frieza tries to intervene and fire off another death beam at Goku, but Vegeta is able to deflect the death beam which then goes right through Sorbet’s heart, killing him. As a result, Krillin is able to administer the last Senzu Bean to Goku, restoring him.
Now it is time for Vegeta to take his shot at fighting Frieza. Frieza tells Vegeta he stands no chance at winning. In response, Vegeta doesn’t say a word – he wastes no time in revealing his power, and immediately reveals his own Super Saiyan Blue transformation. Golden Frieza is shocked by this, as are the spectating Z Fighters. Goku even tells the rest of the warriors that, unlike himself, Vegeta was able to obtain this power without the help of other Saiyans. “He did it by himself,” Goku says.
Frieza immediately hurls an energy blast at Vegeta, but Vegeta easily deflects it. This shocks Frieza, because now he knows for sure Vegeta isn’t bluffing. Frieza angrily fires off several more blasts, all of which are deflected by Vegeta with ease. Frieza ramps up his attack even further, escalating into a rapid fire volley of energy blasts. Vegeta, still with minimal effort, begins to march forward while continuing to deflect Frieza’s attacks. Vegeta marches forward until he is just a few feet from Frieza, and Frieza stops attacking. Frieza is afraid. Vegeta reminds Frieza he’s not soft like Goku.
Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta unleashes a series of blows on Golden Frieza. The blows are devastating, and Frieza immediately begins taking massive damage. Frieza desperately tries to retaliate against Vegeta, but it’s futile – his attacks have no effect.
Vegeta continues his assault, methodically picking Frieza apart and unquestionably dominating him.
After taking a great deal of punishment from Vegeta, Golden Frieza involuntarily powers down and reverts to Final Form Frieza. As he hangs his head in shame, Frieza is in disbelief that he has lost to Vegeta.
As Vegeta stands above Frieza, he says Frieza’s era is long gone. Just as he powers up an energy blast to finish off Frieza, Frieza smiles a devilish grin and releases a blast into the Earth that causes the ground to split in every direction. We see that Frieza has decided to destroy the entire Earth in a desperate effort to exact his revenge. The entire Earth ignites in an exploding ball of fire, and then detonates completely.
Thankfully, moments before destruction, Whis used his staff to form a protective barrier around the Z Fighters (except for Vegeta). Unfortunately, everyone else on Earth was killed. Beerus asks Goku if he’d like another chance at ending his fight with Frieza correctly. Whis reveals he has the ability to turn back time 3 minutes, and asks Goku if he’d like for him to do so. Goku says yes, of course. Whis warns Goku that it will be a while before he can perform this time trick again.
Then, Whis simply taps his staff on the ground, and time is turned back three minutes. The Earth is restored, and Goku is given another chance to finish off Frieza before he destroys the Earth.
Just like that, we are transported back to the point at which Frieza has just collapsed on the ground, about 30 seconds before carrying out his Earth destroying attack. This time around, Goku immediately powers up into his Super Saiyan Blue form, powers up a Kamehameha, and fires it at Frieza. Goku tells Vegeta to get out of the way, and Frieza is completely vaporized by the attack. Only a smoldering crater remains.
Vegeta is aggravated that Goku stole his moment to destroy Frieza, but this is only because he isn’t aware of what was about to happen to the Earth. Goku explains it was the only way.
Beerus finds it ironic that a God of Destruction and his assistant have restored a planet, but Bulma brings a smile to his face by promising he and Whis a huge feast as a reward.
Goku disappears to gather the Dragon Balls and resurrect Piccolo. Gohan has somewhere to be, as well – he flies off to make sure Videl and Pan are okay.
We then see all of the Z Fighters, Whis, and Beerus enjoying the huge feast together, as promised by Bulma.
Gohan approaches Piccolo, and expresses remorse that he hadn’t been strong enough to protect everyone from Frieza. In particular, he feels guilty that Piccolo was forced to sacrifice himself. Piccolo tells him not to worry about it, but Gohan insists that he must begin training again so that he is able to protect his loved ones. Gohan asks Piccolo if he would be willing to train him again, and Piccolo agrees to make Gohan strong once again.
We also see Goku and Vegeta agreeing that neither of them would want to have to team up to fight. They laugh at the fact that they finally agree on something.
As Dragon Ball Super Episode 27 concludes, we see that Frieza is back in hell with the marching stuffed animals and pixies that he hates so much.
