Dragon Ball Super Episode 21 Summary

The last episode of Dragon Ball Super ended with Frieza and his army of 1,000 warriors arriving on Earth.

Dragon Ball Super episode 21 picks up where the last episode left off. Frieza’s ship lands on Earth, and immediately his warriors emerge from the ship and fly into the sky above. From a distance, Gohan, Tien, Piccolo, Krillin, and Master Roshi watch. Gohan explains to the rest of the group that Bulma instructed him not to tell Goten or Trunks about Frieza’s arrival because they try too hard. Krillin notices that Majin Buu is nowhere to be seen. Gohan explains it’s because he fell asleep and is impossible to wake up.

Roshi asks Gohan if he’s been keeping up with his training. Gohan tells him no, but he thinks he can still transform into a Super Saiyan. Moments later, Bulma arrives with Jaco.

All of the warriors have now emerged from the ship. Then a door opens on the top of the ship, and Frieza emerges in his base form. For some of the warriors, this is the first time they have seen Frieza.

Piccolo asks Frieza why he has come to Earth. Frieza coldly responds that he has obviously come for revenge on Goku. Krillin steps forward and tells Frieza that Goku will arrive soon. Frieza immediately recognizes Krillin as someone whom he has killed before.

Bulma encourages Gohan to take on Frieza, telling him that he should easily be able to handle the fight. Gohan isn’t so sure – he can sense that Frieza has become much stronger since the last time they met. In response, Bulma nicely asks Frieza to wait a bit longer until Goku arrives back on Earth. Frieza agrees to wait… for about 10 more seconds. The Z warriors have no choice but to fight.

Moments later, Sorbet commands his army to attack. The Z warriors power up and brace themselves for impact.

Gohan, Roshi, Piccolo, Krillin, and Tien are able to hold off Frieza’s army very effectively. While they’re fighting, Frieza recognizes Gohan from planet Namek. Frieza also recognizes that Gohan has grown up into a kind man like Goku. Freiza infers this because Gohan is intentionally not killing his opponents. Frieza is disgusted by this.

We then see that Krillin is holding back and shaking. He realizes that he is scared. Frieza sees this, and tells his army the first person to kill Krillin will receive their own planet. At once, the army turns their attention to Krillin in order to collect their prize.

Back on Beerus’ planet, Goku and Vegeta continue to train by sparring one another while Whis observes. Whis stops the sparring match, and Goku & Vegeta descend to the ground. They both exhausted, especially Goku. Beerus recognizes they have both become much stronger, and asks if they would like to try fighting him. Surprisingly, Goku actually displays some apprehension at taking Beerus up on the offer. He says that at their current levels, he and Vegeta would have no chance of winning.

Beerus becomes frustrated, and instructs Whis to throw Vegeta and Goku “in there”. We don’t know what Beerus is referring to, but Whis uses his staff to transport Goku and Vegeta to this mysterious place that will expedite their training. With Vegeta and Goku gone, Beerus is pleased that things are quiet again, and asks Whis to retrieve a snack for him.

Back on Earth, Krillin is in trouble. He is surrounded by about a dozen of Frieza’s warriors. Krillin is still scared. Then, one of the warriors takes a swing at Krillin, but Krillin is able to easily dodge the attack. Everyone is confused. Then the warrior takes several more swings, and Krillin dodges those, as well. Krillin realizes that although his confidence was low, he is much faster than Frieza’s soldiers. Roshi reminds Krillin that after being exposed to Buu, Cell, Vegeta, Gohan, and Vegeta, these soldiers should be nothing by comparison. Roshi commands Krillin to have more belief in himself.

Then, Krillin unleashes an attack. He begins easily defeating Frieza’s soldiers. Then the rest of the Z Warriors follow suit and unleash their own attacks and begin eliminating large numbers of the enemy soldiers. Frieza is disgusted by how weak his army has become in his absence.

Sorbet tells Freiza that the strongest warrior in the army, Sisami, will be able to defeat the Z Warriors. Sorbet commands Sisami to attack. Sisami complies, and attacks Gohan.

Gohan unleashes a barrage of ki blasts, but they have no effect. Then Sisami grabs Gohan in a bear hug and begins to squeeze. However, Gohan doesn’t seem to be affected by Sisami’s strength. Gohan tells Sisami that he just had a daughter that he wants grow up in peace, and he hates when guys like Sisami come along. Sisami powers up and tells Gohan he’s too weak to defeat him. Just as Gohan is about to attack, something strange happens – an energy blast strikes Sisami from behind. We see that, strangely, the blast was fired by Tagoma. Sisami falls to the ground.

Then we see that the blast pierced not only Sisami, but went right through Gohan’s chest as well. Gohan also begins to fall towards Earth. Piccolo rushes to his aid and catches him.

Sorbet demands to know why Tagoma shot Sisami. Tagoma explains it was the right time to take out Gohan, and Sorbet wouldn’t understand because he’s too soft. Frieza seems impressed.

Back on the ground, Piccolo gives Gohan some of his energy. Gohan is revived, and Krillin feeds him a Senzu Bean.

Back above, we learn that Sorbet selected Tagoma to be Frieza’s training partner in the four preceding months. We see a flashback in which Tagoma is receiving a serious beating from Frieza during their training. Tagoma explains that he learned from Frieza that overwhelming power and fear are what control people best. Tagoma asks Frieza if he will make Tagoma a commander if he’s able to kill all of the Z Warriors. Frieza says he will not only make Tagoma a commander, but give him as many planets as he desires.

Tagoma descends and powers up. Far away, Goten and Trunks sense Tagoma’s energy, and decide to go investigate.

Dragon Ball Super episode 21 ends with Tagoma facing off with Gohan, Tien, Krillin, Piccolo, and Master Roshi. We also see Captain Ginyu emerging from the ship in his frog form.
