Dragon Ball Super Episode 19 Summary
On the last episode of Dragon Ball Super, we concluded with the introduction of Champa and Vados. We also found out that aboard a familiar looking spaceship, Sorbet was plotting the resurrection of Frieza.
Dragon Ball Super episode 19 begins by giving us a view of Hell. First we see raging volcanic wastelands, followed by frozen tundra, and a calm ocean. Then, we see the version of Hell in which Frieza is contained – it’s beautiful. There is a sprawling landscape of beautiful golden flowers. Frieza is seen constricted and suspended from a tree in a cocoon-like pouch. Cute music plays in the background as fairies and stuffed animals play horns and drums while encouraging Frieza to smile and be happy. Frieza absolutely hates it – this is truly his own personal hell.
Back on Frieza’s ship, Sorbet is commanding his crew, dwindling army, and guiding the ship. Sorbet affirms to his crew that they have no choice but to resurrect Frieza. We then see a flashback to some of the heartless acts executed by Frieza, including the destruction of planet Vegeta and slaughter of the Saiyan race. Sorbet explains that due to Frieza’s absolute power and merciless nature, they would instantly control 70% of the universe if he were restored.
Sorbet sets a course for Earth to retrieve the Dragon Balls in order to resurrect Frieza. His crew expresses concern that Earth could be a dangerous place since it’s the home of the very Saiyan who defeated Frieza, but Sorbet expresses it is a risk they must accept.
Back on Beerus’ planet, Goku and Vegeta are seen sparring with Whis. They are still completely unable to land a punch. With his hands nonchalantly tucked behind his back, Whis evades each and every one of their attacks with ease. Then, at will, with a coy smile on his face, Whis stops the fight by raising his hand and blocking a punch from each Saiyan simultaneously with just his thumb and pinky finger. Whis tells them they still lack speed, and shows them he was even able to sign their uniforms while evading all of their attacks. Whis does concede both Goku and Vegeta have improved greatly since their first sparring session.
Whis then gives Goku and Vegeta some deeper insight into how they can improve as warriors individually. Whis explains that Vegeta is a combat genius, but he continues to trail behind Goku because his senses are constantly on edge. Whis tells Vegeta this prevents him from tapping into his full potential at critical moments. Essentially, Whis tells Vegeta that he needs to relax like Goku. Then Whis strikes Goku and tells him that beingĀ too relaxed can also be problematic. Whis also tells Goku that his overconfidence is a serious issue because it makes him careless.
Back on Earth, Piccolo is seen rocking Pan back and forth. He looks around, and when he is sure nobody will see, he starts making cute baby faces to Pan. Gohan and Videl return from their outing to relieve Piccolo of his babysitting duties. Then, Piccolo becomes alarmed – he can sense a terrible energy is approaching Earth.
In the next scene, we see that Emperor Pilaf, Shu, and Mai have successfully located all seven Dragon Balls. Unfortunately, before they can summon Shenron, Sorbet and his crew show up to take control of the Dragon Balls. Sorbet commands Pilaf, Shu, and Mai to use the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron. Pilaf and his crew fearfully comply and summon Shenron.
Sorbet approaches Shenron, and requests the resurrection of Frieza. Shenron explains Frieza’s body was completely destroyed by Trunks, and thus cannot be resurrected. However, Sorbet’s crew member points out they have access to a cutting edge regeneration machine that may actually be able to reassemble Frieza’s body no matter its condition… even disintegrated ashes. Sorbet instructs Shenron to bring back Frieza’s body even if it’s a complete mess.
Shenron complies with Sorbet’s request, and Frieza’s dismantled remains fall from the sky.
Shenron then informs everyone that they have two more wishes. When the God of Earth was changed, Shenron received an upgrade. Sorbet mulls the idea of bringing back Frieza’s father, King Cold. But before Sorbet can officially make the wish, Shu and Mai wish for a million Zeni, and “The best ice cream in the world”, exhausting the other two wishes.
Sorbet is angry and wants to kill Shu, Mai, and Pilaf, but decides they should leave Earth before the Saiyans show up. Sorbet collects Frieza’s remains and departs Earth in his spaceship. As he is leaving, we see a familiar frog stalking from a distance – it’s Captain Ginyu.
In space, we see Sorbet preparing the regeneration machine for Frieza’s resurrection. After debating the need to resurrect Frieza with a member of his crew, the resurrection commences. Sorbet exclaims “BE RESURRECTED!”
In the regeneration machine, we see Frieza’s body being reassembled. As Frieza is reanimated, his great power causes everyones’ power scanners to explode. Far, far away on Beerus’ planet, Vegeta and Goku can feel Frieza’s great power. Frieza emerges from the regeneration machine in perfect condition. Even he is surprised by his own resurrection.
Dragon Ball Super episode 19 concludes with Frieza menacingly laughing while we are told that Frieza’s revenge will now commence.
